Law 62 faced vers unfaced hand

Law 62 Correcting a revoke,

B1 penalty card if from denders unfaced hand

and

B2 card may be replaced if it is from a defenders faced hand

What does that actually mean, anything I can find on the web is about faced in regards to the lead, how can a defender have a faced hand as the defenders hand is not spread out on the table

thanks again,

Marion

Defender has a penalty card is the only case I can think of

If he plays his minor penalty card when he has card(s) of the suit in his hand
That law says it remains a minor PC not becomes a major one

If declarer discards from hand when he has a  minor penalty card of the suit  led the minor PC must be substituted and the other card becomes a major PC

    Hi Marion

62B1 - I think "unfaced hand" just means the defender hasn't claimed.

62B2 is "defender's faced card" which I think refers to existing penalty cards ie they played an MPC by mistake when they had to follow suit from hand.
