iNFORMATION REGARDING NATIONAL RUBBER BRIDGE COMPETITION

To Regional Committees and Rubber Bridge Players

26th March 2020

Normally, I would be writing to you now about this year’s National Rubber Bridge competition with its finals at the National Congress in Hamilton. These are not, though, “normal” times.

It is still very much the aim, if at all possible, to run the National Congress in its normal slot at the end of September. There are, though, no guarantees.

Some regions have started their regional knock-out competitions: others have not. Where you have started, we have to ask you to ensure that no matches will take place during the current period of Level 4 Alert.

Should the situation ease, it would be possible to complete the knock-out matches in a relatively short time. We must just wait for now.

Normally, I ask Regions to provide the number of pairs who have entered your heat so that we can award two places in the final to the region with the most entries.  No announcement of the winning region will be made before we know that the event will take place.

So, for now, stay safe and enjoy perhaps playing bridge on-line…. but, please, no Rubber Bridge matches in this competition at home for now.

As soon as I have further information about the National Rubber event and the Congress in general, I will communicate with you.

Kind regards

Richard Solomon,

Organiser, NZ National Bridge Congress.
