Otago/Southland Inter-Provincial Trials (Senior)
OSRC (0.03MB)ELIGIBILTY - AGE CRITERIA FOR YOUTH AND SENIOR EVENTS
NZ Bridge has adopted the World Bridge Federation eligibility criteria for participating in Senior and Youth Events as follows:
SENIOR EVENTS
On the 19th August 2017, the World Bridge Federation Executive Council decided to raise the age requirement for Senior players to 65 over the next 8 years in accordance with the following schedule:
- Thus from 1st January 2018, a Senior player must be aged 61 or older in the year of the Championship in which they are going to play
- On 1st January 2020, this will be raised to 62 years of age
- On 1st January 2022, it will be raised to 63 years of age
- On 1st January 2024, it will be raised to 64 years of age
- On 1st January 2026, it will be raised to 65 years of age
The above means that you qualify for a Senior event in New Zealand in 2021 if at any time during this year, you are at least 62 years of age (or, of course, older).
