BEGINNERS' LESSON 4
Beginners' Lesson 4 teaches that after an opening 1 of a suit responder should bypass bidding a 4cM with 10+ HCP and a longer minor.
( See Example 4.)
Wouldn't it be better to teach beginners to NOT bypass bidding a 4cM at the one level in order to bid a longer minor at the 2 level ?

Thats a tricky situation
(in the cited example responder to 1H has 4-2-1-6 shape and lots of points)If responder bids 1S and opener rebids 2D
How can either of them ascertain 5C is the best game? (failing only if one opponent has 4 clubs including Q and 10)I think 2C by responder is best as the hand is strong enough to bid the spades later over 2 of a red suit rebid by opener.
(although having said that the chance of there being a spade fit could be so remote its not worth trying)
