Declarer asks for a Jack...but which Jack?

Hi Everyone

Could I please have your wisdom on this one.

Declarer (East) wins a heart trick in dummy.  Asks dummy to play 'the jack'.  In dummy there is the JD and JS.  Declarer does not say which Jack and without thinking dummy picks up the JD.  North plays KD and then declarer says 'I wanted the JS not the JD'.

As North has played the KD does this mean they have accepted the JD as selected by dummy.

Declarer is in NT and the opposition is holding diamonds and takes them down.

Your thoughts please.

Many thanks

Angela, Royle Epsom

    Hi Angela

As I see it declarer may change it to JS and the defender's KD is returned to hand (ie NOT a penalty card and therefore Authroised Information to the other defender.

Laws 45D, 46B3b (which uses the word "must") and 47D seem to cover it all unless I am missing something?

    cheers

    Nick
